Syrian activists said on Friday that secretary of the ruling Baath party Fadil Najar was killed and five others were wounded in powerful explosions at the party building in the city of Aleppo.
The activists explained that a powerful explosion rocked the party building on Thursday evening, followed by multiple explosions which lasted more than half an hour, killing Najar and wounding five others, Russia Today channel reported.
The explosions occurred on the ground floor of the building at Al Baroon Street in Aleppo, causing a lot of damage to the area, according to Syrian media reports.
An armed Syrian opposition group called "Abu Emara Brigades" claimed responsibility for the bombings.
