Cairo – Marwa Yehia
An opinion poll in 'Arabstoday' rated those who believe that art has an impact on the individual and the society at 34.9 per cent. However, 20.9 per cent believe that art is a message delivered by the artist whether through television, cinema or any other medium. Meanwhile, 17.3 per cent believed that art did not hold any message and was just for the sake of entertainment, while 16.1 per cent believed that art had no impact on society whether it was for entertainment or delivering a message. Entertainment artists have been mired in controversy lately after Egyptian comedian Adel Imam faced charges of making fun of religion through many of his films, like "Al-Erhaby" (the Terrorist) and "Morgan Ahmed Morgan". Meanwhile, the work group of "That" (self) series has been prevented from shooting at the faculty of engineering, Ein Shams University, as the actresses were wearing short clothes in tune with the series's seventies theme.
