At least 12 militants were killed, six others were injured in security operations in different areas of Afghanistan over the latest 24 hours, Afghan Ministry of Defense was quoted by Afghan's Pajhwok news agency on Friday.

A statement from the ministry said the operations were conducted in Nangarhar, Paktika, Kandahar, Farah, Faryab, Baghlan, Jawzjan and Helmand provinces.

In Kandahar only, nine Taliban militants were killed and their weapons seized, the statement said.
