Police in Qena, south of Cairo, have arrested 16 people with firearms in their possession.

Among the arms is a machine gun that was seized with a man, identified as Mohamed Mahgoub Abdel Basit Mohamed in Qena township, said the police.

In Nagaa Hammadi, five persons were arrested with a variety of firearms including a rifle.

The other suspects were busted in Abou Tesht township.
