At least 20 people have died in wildfires that have ravaged forests in northern and central Portugal since Sunday, the civil protection agency said Monday.

The deaths occurred in the Coimbra, Castelo Branco and Viseu areas of central Portugal and Aveiro in the north, said the agency's spokeswoman, Patricia Gaspar, according to national news agency Lusa
