Three members of the public and a police officer were killed in a terror attack outside the British parliament and 40 people were injured, Britain's top counter-terrorism officer said on Wednesday.

"There are three members of the public who have lost their lives in the attack" as well as a policeman and 40 people were injured, Mark Rowley said, raising a previous toll of three victims and 20 injured.
