Canada's participation in US-led airstrikes against the Islamic State group in Iraq will be extended one year to March 2016 and may see sorties into Syria, the government said Tuesday.
A motion seeking support for the mission add-on is expected to gain parliamentary approval with the backing of the ruling Conservative majority. Canada would deploy no ground combat troops under the plan.
