A number of Syrian fractions said they had signed a ceasefire agreement in Cairo to halt hostile activities in southern the Syrian capital Damascus.
The Syrian fractions, including Jaysh Al Islam and Aknaf Bait Al Maqdis, expressed their commitment to the agreement, which took effect on Thursday 12 p.m.
Under the agreement, the Syrian fractions will hold negotiations to reach a political settlement with the aim of finding a comprehensive peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis in accordance with the Astana accord and UN resolutions related to the Syrian crisis.
Russia will supervise the implementation of the ceasefire in southern Damascus, according to the agreement.
