Fierce clashes erupted Friday between the Kurdish Zerevani forces and Iraqi troops in the area between Erbil and Altun Kupri cities.

The National Iraqi News Agency quoted a military source from Zerevani forces as saying that the clashes are still ongoing between the two sides.

Iraqi security forces had taken control of Altun Kupri town earlier in the day.
