The Cassation Court annulled on Thursday a life sentence handed down against activist Ahmed Doma over the acts of violence that occurred outside the Cabinet HQ in downtown Cairo in December 2011.
Doma will be retried before a new circuit of Giza Criminal Court.
Doma defense has lodged a challenge into the life sentence, urging a retrial.
Doma along with 229 other defendants, are accused of committing acts of violence, assaulting police officers and setting fire to the buildings of the Cabinet, the People's Assembly and the Shura Council along with the Scientific Academy in December 2011.
