Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi

Egypt has achieved a great success in the fight against terrorism, forcing terrorist elements to flee to remote areas for a safe haven, a member of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs (ECFA) said.

In an article published Wednesday in Al Ahram daily, Major General Mohamed Ibrahim said North Sinai provides a perfect environment for terrorists due to its geographical nature.

He further stressed that terrorism will never defeat the Egyptian state thanks to the great sacrifices made by Egypt's army and police.

Ibrahim also urged media outlets to play a more active role in the fight against terrorism, praising efforts exerted by Al Azhar to combat this dangerous scourge.
