Most French far-left voters to abstain or cast blank ballots

Two-thirds of hard-left firebrand Jean-Luc Melenchon's supporters say they will abstain or cast blank ballots in France's presidential runoff, after he lost in the first round of voting, results of a party vote showed Tuesday.

Of the 243,000 people who took part, 65.17 percent said they would cast a blank ballot or abstain, and only 34.83 percent said they opted for pro-EU centrist Emmanuel Macron.
