North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un

A senior North Korean official said its nuclear weapons program targets nobody but the United States and the rest of the world does not need to feel threatened, its official newspaper as reported Sunday.

"Today's reality shows that our obtaining of nuclear (weapons) shatters the US ambition to secure its supremacy in the Asia-Pacific region and safeguards peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and its region," Ri Jong-hyok, deputy of North Korea's Supreme People's Assembly and director of the National Reunification Institute, was quoted as saying in his speech during the Asian Parliamentary Assembly in Turkey, Yonhap reported.
