South Korea will proceed with raising the wreck of the Sewol ferry, the government said Wednesday, almost three years after it went down with the loss of more than 300 lives.

The maritime ministry decided to "refloat" the ferry with the effort beginning on Wednesday evening, it said in a statement, after a test raising earlier in the day, but warned that the schedule could change "depending on the situation".
