President Donald Trump advocated for a more militaristic Japan on Monday, saying Tokyo should begin purchasing American-made military equipment to better protect itself against threats from North Korea.

Responding to a question to Abe about Japan's capability to intercept North Korean missiles as they cross over its territory, Trump said Abe "will shoot them out of the sky when he completes the purchase of new US military equipment."
