US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson landed in Mexico late Wednesday for a meeting with its leader to ease diplomatic tensions over President Donald Trump's trade and immigration policies.

Tillerson landed in Mexico City at 2230 GMT, an AFP reporter traveling with him said, ahead of a meeting Thursday with President Enrique Pena Nieto at which US officials said the leaders would discuss trade and ways to curb migration and drug trafficking.
