Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Russia has written off Africa’s debt, more than $20 billion.

“The initiative to assist the poorest countries with high debt off African countries debt is more than $20 billion”, Putin was quoted by Russian Interfax news agency as saying.

The Russian president made these remarks after holding talks with his Guinean counterpart in Moscow.
