A Kentucky county clerk who refused to issue marriage licenses to gay couples was ordered to jail Thursday for contempt of court, US media reported.

Kim Davis told the court that issuing same-sex marriage licenses was against her religious beliefs before US District Judge David Bunning ordered her taken into custody, ABC News reported.
