Celine Dion's husband Rene Angelil, who discovered the Canadian pop diva and long managed her career, died Thursday in Las Vegas at age 73  after a long battle with cancer, a spokesman said.

"The family asks that they be left to mourn in private. More information will be given in the coming days," said the spokesman for the singer, Marc Olivier.
