Former Polish archbishop Jozef Wesolowski, who would have been the first high-ranking church official to go on trial on paedophile charges, died overnight, a Vatican source said Friday.
Wesolowski, 67, had suffered from health problems that last month caused postponement of his trial, which was to be the first against a church official under a Vatican justice system revamped by Pope Francis in response to widespread accusations of sexual abuse of children by priests.
