An undersea earthquake of 5.7 magnitude struck off the coast of Java island, in Indonesia, today, the US Geological Survey reported.

According to Reuters news agency, the earthquake struck 588 km deep and 125 km to the northeast of Surabaya city in Java. It was reported to be of 6 degrees magnitude at first.
