General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare meets with Nepalese

The General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare, YSA, has received a delegation from the Ministry of Sports and Youth in Nepal, where both sides discussed means of cooperation and knowledge exchange between both countries in the areas of youth and sports.

The Nepalese delegation that included 16 officials, was led by Ram Barsam, Assistant Secretary-General of the Ministry of Sports and Youth in Nepal, who met with Ibrahim Abdul Malik, Secretary-General of YSA, Khalid Al Midfa, Assistant Secretary-General of YSA, and several other officials.

Both parties discussed a draft Memorandum of Understanding in the areas of youth and sports and the possibility of holding joint sports camps between both countries. The delegation was then briefed about the UAE’s development of its local sporting experience and its management of sporting events. It was also introduced to the authority’s successes and the laws that regulate its relationship with local sports federations.

Abdul Malik praised what he described as a good initiative, which aims to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries. He also stressed that this visit is the start of a series of visits to promote cooperation between both sides.

He added that the success of the YSA is the result of the directives and support of the wise leadership, as well as the role of local sports councils in supporting its plans and programmes, and the strong relations between the authority and the National Olympic Committee.

Barsam thanked the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare while praising the meeting, which will support the youth and the sports sector in Nepal with constructive ideas and new projects.

He said that their visit will be the start of mutual projects and new achievements for the youth of Nepal, in cooperation with UAE people and in light of the natural conditions in Nepal.

At the end of the meeting, they exchanged commemorative shields and gifts while Barsam invited the YSA to visit Nepal in the near future.
