The Technical Committee of the 7th Group of the International Equestrian Federation recently discussed, during its meeting at the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, the new amendments to the qualification requirements of the Arab League for the World Cup, as well as ways to develop and cooperate with other organising committees, and how to overcome the obstacles facing equestrians and horses.
The meeting was chaired by Sheikh Khalid Al Khalifa, Chairman of the 7th Group and Vice President of the International Equestrian Federation, and was attended by Sami Al Dahami, Chairman of the Technical Committee of the 7th Group, Sultan Mohammed Khalifa Al Yahiai, Director-General of the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, and Hossam Abu Bakr Zamit, Advisor to the UAE Equestrian Federation.
Ashraf Jaber Al Laithi, Executive Director of the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, presented the club’s proposal to establish a new youth league and a league for young horses, a project that the club has been working on for a considerable period. The club also organises international championships, under the directives of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to prepare the next generation of equestrians and horses.
The meeting reviewed and approved the club’s proposal and assigned a new technical committee to manage the new league, and draft a final proposal to be submitted to the International Equestrian Federation in July. The final proposal aims to set the date for the annual league finals of the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club in February for three years, until 2020.
The new technical committee will also coordinate with other committees that organise championships, with Sultan Mohammed Khalifa Al Yahiai heading this committee, and Ashraf Jaber Al Laithi and Hossam Abu Bakr Zamit as its members.
