The improvement in the performance of national water skier Aaliyah Yoong Hanifah recently has earned attention from Singapore's top female skier, Sasha Christian.

Sasha, 24, said that she was impressed by the progress of the young talent who scooped double gold, in the tricks and overall events, at the 2015 Singapore SEA Games.

"She (Aaliyah) is a really good athlete and it's a great honor to compete next to her. She's fantastic in that she pushes everyone (to do their best) on the water.

"Personally, I think she is a very strong competitor and she definitely will give me a tough fight in the upcoming SEA Games," she told Bernama after snatching the top spot in the final of the women's open slalom event at the pre-SEA Games Water Skiing Championship at the Putrajaya Water Sports Complex, here, today.

Sasha scored 1.50/55/12.00 to claimed victory while Indonesia's Ummu Thoyibhatus Sholikah came in second with 6.00/55/14.25, Aaliyah was forced to settle for third place after recording 4.50/55/14.25.
