A small fire that erupted in the wee hours of Sunday alongside the Giza Zoo tree fence was contained by civil defense fighters and zoo security.
There are no losses and no animal was harmed by the fire that engulfed a few trees on the outskirts of the zoo, Minister of Agriculture Abdel Monem el Banna said in statements.
The scene of the fire was very distant from animals, he said.
The zoo is ready to receive the public on the occasion of Eidul Fitr, he said.
