Environment Minister Khaled Fahmy said the River Nile is in good condition as far as pollution rates are concerned, according to bodies monitoring the Nile water.
Pollution level at the river is less than the international rate, added Fahmy in response to questions raised by some MPs about Nile water pollution during a parliament's session on Monday.
The River Nile is monitored by three ministries concerned; the water resources and irrigation ministry, the health ministry and the environment ministry, he said.
Still there are some factories that dump waste into the river such as sugar factories in Upper Egypt, Fahmy said, adding that action plans were adopted to legalize conditions at these facilities to prevent such processes.
