Agriculture and Land Reclamation Minister Abdel Mon'em el Bana said that the strategy 2030 pertaining to agriculture focuses on the best use of natural resources, rationalizing the use of water, increasing crops and enhancing competitiveness of the agricultural crops in the local and external markets.
During the first session of the fourth National Youth Conference dubbed "Egypt's vision 2030", el Bana said that the prices of wheat crops increased after updating the exchange rate, while 25 silos with a capacity of one and half million tons were established.
The minister further reiterated that Egypt produces 2.4 million tons of sugarcane, while the country's needs reach 3.2 million tons.
Additional 55 feddans were cultivated with sugarcane during this year, he reiterated.
The minister also said that the lands planted with cotton reached 129,000 feddans, adding the Egyptian cotton was mixed during the security vacuum in 2011-2012.
