Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Mohamed Abdel Atti headed Thursday for Kenya for talks on boosting ties with the Nile Basin countries.
Abdel Atti’s visit took him to Kisumu on Lake Victoria and Bungoma county, where he was received by Bungoma governor, a ministry statement said.
Bungoma governor praised the Egyptian government’s support for the Kenyan people through carrying out projects in the fields of water resources to provide the drinking water in remote and dry areas.
The Egyptian minister also met with Kenyan counterpart, who hailed the visit, which will see the launch of projects of an MoU signed between the two ministries in August 2016.
The projects included drilling of groundwater wells, building dams for rains and upgrading irrigation methods in some farms.
The two sides celebrated the launch of the first groundwater drill site.
