Cairo - MENA
Egypt is one of the most countries affected by climate change due to its impact on the size of floods, said Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Mohamed Bahaaeddin. Climate change will lead to the rise of temperature and the sea level, threatening Egypt\'s shores and farm lands in the Nile Delta region, Bahaaeddin said during a workshop on climate change risk management in a speech given on his behalf by his assistant Tareq Qotb. The annual per capita quota of water has declined in Egypt from 2,000 cubic square in 1959 to 660 cubic square this year, he said. The Water Resources and Irrigation Ministry prepared a national plan, to run until 2017, that takes into consideration climate change as one of the future factors for the management of water resources in Egypt, he said.
