Giant panda Yuan Yuan, which was one of the Chinese mainland\'s free gifts for Taiwan, successfully gave birth to a cub at Taipei Zoo in the island at 8:05 p.m. Saturday, according to sources with the zoo. The new-born cub weighs about one thousandth of Yuan Yuan and its gender is not yet identified as the mother has kept it around her since its birth.
