The new 2014 GMC Sierra Denali pickup truck is a cut above the rest. In addition to being the most powerful, most advanced and most refined truck in the brand’s 111-year history, today it was named to Ward’s 10 Best Interiors of 2014. Premium materials, strict attention to detail and purposeful technology define the Sierra Denali’s advanced cabin, elevating the expectations of luxury in a pickup truck. “It’s a stunning departure for a full-size pickup interior and it breaks all the tired stereotypes about pickup truck cabins,” said Drew Winter, editor-in-chief, WardsAuto World magazine. Evaluating over 40 vehicles in two months, Eight WardsAuto editors assessed the interiors during routine commutes in and around metro Detroit. Editors used score sheets to rank the entries on features such as ergonomics, driver information, fit-and-finish, materials, value, safety, comfort and design harmony. “Our mission with the GMC Sierra Denali was to achieve bold refinement and set the new standard for a premium cabin experience that offers the comfort and technology our customers expect and demand,” said Helen Emsley, executive director of Global GMC Design and User Experience. “We are working very diligently to raise the bar on all of our interiors across the GMC portfolio, so this is validating for the work we have done and our strategic direction.” Sierra Denali’s interior begins with a focus on usable and productive space, featuring an upright instrument panel designed for visibility and ideally placed controls. New soft-touch materials and aluminum trim line the fresh interior. “The Sierra Denali foregoes traditional luxury cues such as wrinkled leather and wood for a modern, sophisticated pickup interior with real aluminum trim,” Winter said. Engineered to provide a quiet and comfortable experience, rich, leather-appointed seats stay comfortable for long hours on the road, thanks to new dual-density seat foam. The driver and front passenger enjoy 12-way power-adjustable bucket seats that include heat and cooling functions. Sierra Denali’s high-tech interior also features an exclusive eight-inch Customizable Driver Display that can show relevant vehicle settings, audio and navigation information in the instrument panel. Its standard eight-inch Color Touch navigation radio with IntelliLink, located above the center console, serves as the main hub for Bluetooth-connected phones and portable devices connected through five standard USB ports. “Technology is featured everywhere, from the reconfigurable LCD gauge cluster to the latest active safety systems, but it’s also loaded with practical storage space and easy access to multiple USB, 12V and 110V outlets right up front,” said Winter. “The heated and cooled seats are fabulously comfortable on long drives and the triple-sealed doors make the Sierra Denali the quietest pickup cabin we’ve ever experienced.” Source: GM
