Manama - BNA
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the republishing of the offensive cartoons of Prophet Mohammad, Peace Be Upon Him, saying that an act of provocation to more than a billion and a half Muslims.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounces the shameful step taken by the French Charlie Hebdo magazine by
publishing and re-publishing the offensive cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad, Peace Be Upon Him," the ministry said in a statement.
“It strongly condemns this behavior which has nothing to do with freedom of opinion and expression, but rather represents a provocation to more than a billion and a half Muslims, and a rejected breach on their religious beliefs and symbols.
“The Ministry stresses that the continued abuse by the French newspaper and some European newspapers of the Islamic religion would create a fertile soil for the spread of hatred and the growth of terrorism, and engagement in a dangerous series of violent extremism, which does not differentiate between religions and does not recognize borders.
“The Ministry demands that all the media be objective, committed to responsibility, adhere to values and respect all religions and heavenly religions,” the statement said.
