French President Francois Hollande on Sunday strongly condemned the killing of the second Japanese hostage by the ISIL.
President Hollande "resolutely condemned the brutal murder of Japanese citizen Kenji Goto" according to a statement released by the French government.
"France stands in solidarity with Japan in this new ordeal", he said, adding that the two countries would "continue to work together for peace in the Middle East and to eliminate terrorist groups".
Last night, ISIL broadcast a video showing the execution of Japanese hostage Kenji Goto. The terrorist group had previously given an ultimatum to release Iraqi detainee Sajda Al-Rishawi held in Jordan in exchange for Goto's life.
