Information Minister and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah visited Saturday the Media Center of the Third International Pledging Conference for the Syrian people, due on March 31.
Sheikh Salman toured the media center and got acquainted with the preparations and services to be offered for journalists during their coverage of the aid-ledging meeting, also known as Kuwait III, tareq Al-Mezrem, Information Undersecretary, told KUNA.
Sheikh Salman is keen on providing all facilities to journalists in order to guarantee success for the one-day conference, said Al-Mezrem.
The minister got acquainted with activities to be presented by the media center, he said.
Administration of the media center will organize visits to journalists to scientific and traditional sites, hold a seminar about the role of cooperative societies in helping the Syrian refugees, and performing a play called "Hope." The Ministry of Youth allocated a pavilion within the media center for paintings by youth about the suffering of the Syrian refugees.
Some 12.5 million Syrians have been displaced internally and across neighbouring countries like Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey, Iraq and Egypt, due to the conflict in their country that has entered a fifth year.
Kuwait hosted two events in 2013 and 2014 which raised pledges worth a total USD 3.9 billion - USD 1.5 billion and USD 2.4 billion respectively - from international donors aimed at alleviating their suffering.
At both, Kuwait donated a collective USD 800 million, including USD 300 million and USD 500 million.
