Amman - MENA
Jordan is investigating a purported new voice recording of hostage Japanese Kenji Goto, who is now held by Daesh militants, Spokesman for the Jordanian Army Mamdouh al Amri said on Thursday.
The person in the recording said Moaz al-Kasasbeh, a Jordanian pilot held by the terrorist group, will be killed unless an Iraqi prisoner held by Jordan is freed by sunset on Thursday.
"Kasasbeh is a top priority for us," Amri said.
On Wednesday, Jordan affirmed its readiness to release prisoner Sajeda Al Rishawi if the Jordanian captive pilot was released unharmed.
Jordanian Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications Mohammed al Momani said that Jordan's stance aimed at preserving the life of pilot Al Kasasbeh, who was recently captured by the Daesh group after his fighter jet crashed over Raqqa, Syria.
Sajeda Al Rishawi is on death row in Jordan in connection with the Amman hotel terrorist attacks that killed 60 people on November 9, 2005.
