Head of Higher Commission for Sheikh Mubarak Al-Hamad\'s Journalism Excellence Award Aymen Al-Ali announced on Saturday that the period of submitting participation forms has been extended until December 31st.This extenstion period aims at to allowing the entrance of as many journalists as possible in the contest, he explained.Al-Ali, in press statement, congradulated His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah for his new appointment as Prime Minister. He also expressed appreciation to Sheikh Jaber for his support and sponsorship of this award.He stressed that the Higher Commission is still pursuing its goal of elevating the level of journalism in the country.The goal of this award is to encourage excellence in journalism, create spirit of competitiveness and support all journalists, especially young journalists to develop their skills in this profession, he pointed out.The contest includes four award categories: Best report, Best Investigative Journalism, Best interview and Best picture.The contest is allowed for All writers and photographers from Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) and all other journalists in the country.Articles or photographs must not have been published prior to January 1, 2010.Articles submitted as nominations should not have been entered in any other competition in or outside Kuwait.It is also stipulated that the stories must be written in Arabic and be no less than 500 words for KUNA editors and no less than 1,000 words for the rest of participating journalists.To maintain fairness and objectivity, no contest entrant can be related to anyone on the committee selecting this year\'s prizes.
