Tripoli - Arabstoday
Majdi Hilali, an Egyptian cameraman with MBC television, was freed in Libya on Sunday after more than two months in detention, his television group said. “He has been released and is now at the Egyptian embassy in Tripoli. He is to leave the country tomorrow,” said Hedi Hannashi, a correspondent for Al Arabiya that is part of the same media group as MBC. Forces loyal to Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi arrested Mr. Hilali, 43, and an Algerian colleague, Hassan Zitouni, near the eastern town of Brega on April 6, Mr. Hannashi said. Mr. Zitouni was freed three days later and has left the country. Several foreign journalists have been detained in eastern Libya in regions where rebels and pro-Qaddafi forces have clashed.
