Russia’s Security Council has begun preparing a new edition of Russia’s Information Security Doctrine, the council’s press service said.
"The new edition will be based on updated approaches to protecting national interests in the information field with due account for today’s realities," the press service said. "Among the priorities are strengthening state guarantees of privacy, improving the competitiveness of Russian products, creating conditions for their wide use in formation of national information systems and networks, as well hardware and software crucial to maintaining information security of national information infrastructure facilities," Russia’s Security Council said.
It pointed to the need to "improve safety of communications and information processing services provided to citizens, government agencies and local government bodies."
The current Information Security Doctrine was adopted in September 2000.
