Tinder is rolling out verified accounts to serve its famous users who may have been continuously mistaken for fake accounts.
Verified profiles will now don a blue checkmark next to the users' name and photo -- assuring their matches that they haven't been spammed. "Now when notable public figures, celebrities and athletes appear in your recommendations," Tinder said in a blog post, "you'll know it's for real."
Talks of including the verification feature began last year, when Lindsay Lohan mentioned her interest in the popular dating app, which allows users to swipe through local singles. Celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio and Hilary Duff were also rumored to have used the app.
Duff recently released a music video for her single, "Sparks," which featured clips of her swiping on Tinder and even meeting up with her matches on dates. After backlash from fans, however, the actress and singer re-released the video sans Tinder.
