Chinese State Councilor Liu Yandong met here on Friday with Stanford University President John L. Hennessy, expressing her hope that the university will enhance cooperation with China. Liu praised Hennessy\'s efforts in promoting friendly relations between Stanford University and China. She briefed him on China\'s 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015), education reform and the consultation mechanism of China-U.S. people-to-people exchanges. She said cooperations between universities of the two countries play a unique role in consolidating the social basis of the China-U.S. cooperative partnership, she said. She also expressed her hope that Stanford University will fully explore its advantages and strengthen its cooperation with China, so as to make new contributions to the sound development of bilateral ties.
