More than 127 thousand students in 206 schools are back to their schools today signaling the beginning of the new school year 2011/2012. The number of newly-admitted first graders is (10355) out of whom (5056) are male and (5299) are female students. The Ministry of Education have inaugurated one primary school in Al-Okar district this year and constructed three school buildings in Qallali, Budaiya and Hamad Tow The Ministry finished comprehensive periodical maintenance in (58) government schools at the various levels. The Ministry of Education implements its planned maintenance each year in 25% out of the total number of schools in coordination with the Ministry of Works who carry out the maintenance plan and the General Directorate of Traffic who specify appropriate locations for bus-stops in order to safeguard students safety. School textbooks have been compiled, or modified, taking into consideration modern educational and scientific trends in designing, discussing and treating the topics according to students’ levels and in order to serve as suitable educational tools.
