The National Assembly passed on a special session Monday a proposed allowance for teaching staff at the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Awqaf, as well as a proposed increase in the current students\' allowance.The vote on the teachers allowance was 45 ayes and six nays, with 51 MPs present.The vote on increasing the students allowance was 44 ayes and six nays, with one abstention and 51 MPs present.The assembly listened to a statement by the government read out by Minister of Finance Mustafa Al-Shimali on the accelerated increase in salaries of state employees and given a visual presentation by the Minister of Education Ahmad Al-Mlaifi on the proposed annual bonus for teachers which is to be tied to their level of performance.
