The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) signed on Thursday two cooperation protocols with the Ministries of Higher Education and planning.
The protocol, signed by Chairman of the NBE Hisham Okasha and Higher Education Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, is meant to support scientific research in Egypt and provide scholarships for students abroad to develop their capabilities and skills and equip them with the latest technological methods.
The signing ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and Central Bank of Egypt First Deputy Governor Gamal Najm.
According to the agreement, the NBE will provide EGP 300 millions over three years, some EGP 100 millions to be allotted in each year.
Also, Okasha has inked a memorandum of understating (MoU) with Planning Minister Hala el Saeed.
The deal aims to offer educational programs and provide scholarships in the field of entrepreneurship to upgrade the efficiency of the state’s administrative apparatus.
As per the MoU, the NBE will allocate EGP 200 millions in two years.
Vice President of the NBE Mahmoud Montasser and Head of Marketing, Institutional Communication and Society Support Programs Nermin Shehab Eldin witnessed the signing of the the MoU.
The NBA’s contributions come as part of the bank’s policy to support all components of the educational process, notably the human element through developing students’ skills, which in turn could help achieve the the sustainable development and economic progress, Okasha said in statements.
