 Arabian Gulf University (AGU) has signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Catania to strengthen the partnership between the University and other European universities in the field of medical research. The agreement was signed by the Dean of the College of Medicine at the Medicine & Medical Science College, Dr. Khaled Said Tabbara from AGU and by the President of Catania University Professor Francesco Basile.
The agreement aims at exchanging experiences, consulting, holding workshops and symposiums, and taking advantage of the expertise of the Italian University of Catania to build Gulf cadres that contribute to the development of health and education services, facilities, services, jobs and other vital sectors to serve the policies that goes in line with the aim AGU to enhance the development in GCC.
Tabbara, Vice President of AGU, said that the signing of the agreement comes in close proximity to the achievement achieved by the University by maintaining its first position for the fourth year in a row in the Kingdom of Bahrain in the classification of the Worldwide QS University Rankings for 2017. It also has achieved an advanced rank as it has been ranked sixth among GCC universities, and seventh among Arabic universities, thanks to the positive academic reputation that has been strengthened over the past decades.
Dr. Tabbara pointed out the importance of signing cooperation agreement with the University of Catania, which is one of the oldest universities in Sicily, Italy.
“This marks the beginning of research cooperation in developing the field of modern medical education and joint research. The University of Catania with its scientific and academic expertise is very keen to cement its partnership with academic and scientific institutions in the GCC states via expertise exchange and by working on the implementation of joint educational cooperative projects. To have partnerships with universities at this level is an added value for AGU,” he said.
