Amman - Petra
The Jordanian-Russian forum of heads of universities has recommended setting up a Jordanian-Russian university for technical sciences, on the lines of the German-Jordanian University.
The recommendation came during a meeting of the forum where the Russian Ambassador to Jordan, Boris Bolotin, and officials of the Russian Federal Agency for International Cooperation and those of the Ministry of Education and Science were also present.
The meeting also touched on ways to bolster cooperation in the academic and scientific research domains and the issue of increasing the number of Russian scholarships for Jordanian students.
Head of the forum and President of Jordan University Dr. Ikhleif Tarawneh said that the forum plays a key role in boosting bilateral cooperation between the two countries, noting that it is part of a series of joint meetings focussing on various domains.
The Russian envoy, on his part, said that the forum would contribute towards cementing academic cooperation between the two countries, noting that the security and stability that Jordan enjoys make it a gateway for those desirous of accessing markets in regional countries.
The two-day forum will discuss the educational systems in both the countries and the challenges these face. It will also discuss the accreditation of certificates issued by universities in both the countries.
