The College of Social Sciences at Kuwait University on Tuesday opened its 4th scientific conference on "Psychology in a changing world" with several Arab and foreign researchers taking part.
The three-day gathering aims at developing scientific research that serves the Kuwaiti society, addressing psychological and social problems, through the latest theories and studies.
The conference is held under the auspices of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce and Industry, and Acting Minister of Education and Higher Education Abdulmohsen Al-Madaj.
The conference contributes to fostering the vital role of the Kuwait University for serving the society, conveying its ambitious message of social development in the country, Dean of the College Abdul-Reda Assiri told the opening session.
It also offers a chance to graduates willing to continue their post-graduate studies through acquainting them with the major topics in the field and correcting some concepts of psychology, he added.
Assiri noted that the topics on the conference agenda touch upon various issues related to the process of change. Workshops will address criminal psychology, mental processes and knowledge related to change. The conference will also seek to stress the role of psychology in handling the challenges resulting from change.
