Amman - Petra
Her Royal Highness Princess Muna Al Hussein, Health Minister Ali Hyasat and USAID Mission Director Beth Paige recognized 48 health centers for receiving accreditation from the Health Care Accreditation Council (HCAC) for meeting the highest international standards.
During the past four years, the USAID-funded Health Systems Strengthening II (HSS II) project has worked in collaboration with the Ministry of Health to prepare 120 heath centers for accreditation using HSS II's Quality Improvement collaborative approach.
The approach resulted in 28 primary healthcare centers being accredited in December 2012 and the 48 being recognized today for a total of 76 facilities. Another 30 centers will be surveyed in September.
"Having 76 health enters accredited during this short period is a remarkable achievement," said Minister of Health Ali Hyasat. "The Ministry will continue using this approach to improve health centers throughout the Kingdom" he added.
US Aid Mission Director Paige expressed her admiration for the collaboration between the HSS II and the Ministry of Health, lauding their ability to raise service standards and help these healthcare facilities to achieve accreditation, improving the quality of healthcare in Jordan.
