President Abdel Fattah El Sisi voiced Egypt's full support for the nomination of Ambassador Moshira Khattab for the post of the director-general of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Sisi noted that Khattab's experience in the regional and international spheres qualifies her to hold such a key post, wishing her success in the upcoming elections, Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef noted.
The remarks were made on Tuesday when Sisi receives Moshira Khattab, Egypt's nominee for the post of UNESCO director-general.
Moshira Khattab voiced appreciation for Egypt's role in nominating her as well as the endorsement announced by the African Union (AU) for her in the elections, that are scheduled to be held in early 2017, said Youssef.
Meanwhile, Youssef added, Khattab briefed the president on her platform and pointed out to the visits she paid to some member states at UNESCO Executive Board in addition to the meetings she has held there to unveil her platform, discuss the organization's activities and means of enhancing its role in the coming period.
