Manama - BNA
The Supreme Council of Women (SCW)'s Secretary-General Hala Al-Ansari said that the SCW was considering to compile a draft national strategy that prevents and combats family violence and protect women in cooperation with the relevant official and civil society organisations (i.e. NGOs).
In the SCW's report on the occasion of the International Day of Eradication of Violence against Women (November, 25), Al-Ansari stressed that the Council will issue the National Strategy during the first quarter 2015.
The strategy will act as a reference to boost and develop all services provided to Bahraini women in terms of women's protection and prevention of family violence.
She added that this strategy which conforms with the Convention of Eradication of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) will positively contribute to family stability in line with the National Strategy for Bahraini Women's Revival 2013-2022 and consolidate the principles of the rule of law, equality and justice for all society members without any discrimination following the third Geneva Report's discussion last February and the recommendations of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) which urged the setting of a comprehensive national strategic plan to eradicate all forms and manifestations of violence against women.
