HH Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairperson of Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC), has expressed her pride in the advancement of women's sports, both locally and internationally, highlighting that Arab women are now competing at regional and international levels. Sheikha Jawaher also commended the preparations of Sharjah Ladies Club for the Arab Women Sports Tournament (AWST 2014), which will start on 2nd February. The statement was directed to Sharjah Ladies Club athletes, and conveyed by Noura Al Noman, Director of the Executive Office of Her Highness, during a meeting at the Executive office of Her Highness in Sharjah, attended by Khawla Jassim Al Serkal, Sharjah Ladies Club Manager, Nada Askar Al Naqbi, Head of the Executive Committee and Manager of the Arab Women Sports Tournament (AWST), in addition to the committees responsible for supervising SLC's participation in AWST 2014 . Al Noman stated that Sheikha Jawaher has absolute confidence in the athletes taking part in this important sports event, and believes that they will be the best ambassadors for their country. Her Highness highlighted that the U.A.E.'s wise leadership has been offering all required support to sportswomen, providing the means for them to enhance their capabilities and improve their skills. AWST 2014, which will be hosted by Sharjah from 2nd-12th February, and which will see the participation of 900 athletes from 14 Arab countries, promises be one of the best sporting events in terms of management, arbitration, organisation, and results. Sheikha Jawaher promised that this will be achieved by providing all the facilities required by sister athletes from other Arab countries. She affirmed that the U.A.E. aims to present a worthy tournament that will establish a solid foundation for women's sports in the region. Her Highness invited all U.A.E. athletes taking part in AWST 2014 to showcase their capabilities, and to aim for the highest ranks, affirming that their ambitions will be backed by her support and encouragement as she wishes to see them compete on an international level.
